Family Needs Help After Unprecedented Flooding
Hi. My name is Nancy Hespeth-Nixon and I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my sister Natasha Nixon. She is a single mother on a fixed income. She lives with her younger children Yahera age 13, Nico age 8, and Nino age 4. Storms in the North Eastern area of the US have recently experienced unprecedented weather phenomena including flash flooding and even tornadoes. Unfortunately for my sister, her neighborhood was hit with a lot of flooding. They had to be rescued by boat but they are unharmed, healthy, safe and now in a hotel for the time being. In the video you can see her and the children being escorted into a rescue boat, again they are ok. However, the same cannot be said for the house. Everything in the basement and most things on the 1st floor are unsalvageable including her car which was completely submerged.
These funds will immediately go towards:
Groceries
Clothing
School Supplies
Laundry Detergent
Uber Rides
When my sister and her children find new housing the funds will go towards:
Security deposit
Furniture
Kitchen Supplies and Cookware
Possibly a Washer/Dryer
It seems as though if my sister and her children did not have bad luck, they would not have any luck at all. Here is a short summary of what she and her children have been through.
2013-Yahera “Yah-Yah” was diagnosed with a brain tumor and went through rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. She is in remission but deficits from treatment are beginning to surface. Hearing loss and decreased vision to her left eye are just a few.
2014-Nico at 1 1/2 years old became critically ill and spent 11 days on a ventilator. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and later asthma. Yahera was till receiving cancer treatment at the time.
2018- A driver did not yield to a green light while making a left turn. She crashed into my sister who had my then 5-year-old nephew in the car. Natasha and Nico were ok but the car was totaled.
2020-A drunk driver totaled the previous car above while it was sitting parked in front of her home. Although he was charged with a DUI and tried to flee the scene, he was found not liable for any damages nor was he jailed for trying to leave the scene. Natasha lost a day of work and $200 in court costs. The court date for this was the night of the flooding.
These are just a few of the misfortunes and setbacks which have occurred in their lives and are of no fault of their own. As prideful as my sister is, she needs help. Her luck needs to turn around and we are hoping you can help. Please consider donating if you can. Any amount helps. It would mean everything to us.
From the very bottom of our hearts we thank everyone one of you who have taken the time to read this and possibly consider donating. Please stay safe and have a blessed day!
Thank You,
Natasha, Yahera, Nico, Nino, and Nancy
