I've had the privilege of knowing Cheryl for 25 years, over the course of our friendship I've noticed so many traits about her that many of you have also seen first hand I'm sure.
She's was loving, funny, smart, driven, loyal, she was a little messy and hated to cook. She believed in friendships that last a lifetime and standing up for those who may have been less fortunate than her. She had been a shoulder to lean on and a friend to laugh with. She's been there to cheer us on at the most important occasions in our lives and been there to hold a hand when we need encouragement and love. She's been the first person to come to the aid of a friend or family member in need. Whether it's emotional support or financial, she has leant money numerous times over, all the while knowing she may never get it back.
To say that Cheryl has lived her life as a selfless person is an understatement. I've heard so many stories of her generosity and giving heart. While visiting her a few weeks ago I've heard of Cheryl’s many acts of kindness trough her circle of friends in Ottawa. One in particular that stands out in my mind had happened a short time ago. Cheryl had been to the hospital for treatment and Andrew was calling to check in on her. After numerous attempts he finally reached her to find out that Cheryl went to Costco after receiving her treatment to deliver food to the homeless shelter. Something it turns out she did on a regular basis after treatment. I could list many, many acts of kindness that Cheryl has done or all that she has given to so many people, including myself and those who knew her knew she did it for no other reason than out of a pure heart of goodness. She believed wholeheartedly in paying it forward.
Cheryl had been living with Cancer for almost five years and we got word last night that Heaven gained another angel. I can say with a very heavy heart she left this earth all too soon.
Cheryl's love of life has been passed on to her son Jackson who is 9 years old. He loves to travel, loves adventures and has a pure kind heart like his Mom. Now he and his Dad will have to continue on this journey without Cheryl. And it is heartbreaking to even think of the life ahead for them.
Andrew was the love of Cheryl's life and he has done an amazing job supporting her and looking after her & being there for Cheryl in so many ways. So much so that he didn't even let Cheryl know how much her mediation cost every month. He has carried the financial strain all alone not to mention the emotional strain of seeing the love of his life in pain and fight such a brave fight. He didn't want to worry her and he knew given the heart that his Cheryl had she would have gone without the medication to save her husband the financial stress or any worry.
Now a road lay before Andrew that's going to be so difficult to travel. It's a life without his soul mate, without his best friend, without the love of his life, without the mother of their child.
So let's come together and reach out to Andrew and show support to him and Jackson at this difficult time. Let's give back and love how Cheryl would have done so willingly.
Thus the reason for the Go Fund Me page for Andrew and Jackson
any amount you can give would be greatly appreciated and please feel free to share this status. It's so important to stand in and step up as we need to help Cheryl’s family at this difficult time.
So even if you haven't met her, or experienced her kindness in anyway. I'm asking now if we can come together and help Cheryl’s family and give back to honour Cheryl's family & her memory and to the one who has given so much to everyone else.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post but most importantly please keep this family in your prayers.
