FAMILY OF EIGHT LIVING IN CAR
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Merrily and I am trying to help David and Cassandra get back on their feet. After several setbacks, including medical bills and losing their home, they are working very hard to support their family in Bellingham, Washington.
This past spring they were forced to live in their car with their 6 children, Skyler (12), Katharyne (8), Chloe (6), Daxtin (5), Damon (3), Everlee (5 months). The first thing I noticed seeing pictures of this family are the hopeful smiles on their faces. They have faith that things will turn around and they are willing to work hard to get there. But they need some help!
David has a full-time job at a local tattoo shop and delivers food for DoorDash when he’s off work to buy basic necessities like diapers, food, and gas. Cassandra has her hands full taking care of their children, including a child with autism. They have reached out to the Opportunity Council, Bellingham Housing Authority and Unity Care in hopes of finding shelter.
Cassandra says “We’re trying to save for a house and we can’t because we’re spending all of the money on necessary things that we need.“ Home and rent prices have escalated dramatically. A one bedroom apartment in Bellingham is $1450.
Please help this family turn things around. A little help will go a long way! Food, diapers, school supplies, gas, medication, toiletries, this hard-working family needs help with everything!
Thank you to Rachel Showalter for the picture and story in The Bellingham Herald.
