Family of Four Homeless after Richmond Hill Fire
Tax deductible
On July 17, DRUM youth member Kesar and her family lost their apartment in a terrible fire in Richmond Hill, Queens. Their entire building was deemed uninhabitable and they were given less than a day to gather all their worldly belongings and move into a shelter. Many of their clothes and furniture were destroyed and cannot be used.
Kesar is someone who has actively worked to improve her community. Kesar has been a DRUM youth member since 2019. She went through DRUM's youth summer organizing programming and after that took up a lot of leadership to make sure that Richmond Hill immigrant communities were counted in the 2020 census.
Her family is now homeless and seeking a new place to stay, but they need our support as a community. Kesar's father is also seriously ill and is currently on dialysis treatment. Her sister is in middle school and her mother is the only one who is working.
Let's help them to afford to move into more stable housing! The family is extremely distressed and unsure of where to turn to. Please give what you can to support them in this time of need.
