Family of Kim McConnell

In the early morning hours of January 5, 2018, Kim McConnell’s life changed forever. She is 46 years old and fairly healthy, yet that morning she abruptly suffered a massive stroke leaving her unconscious and requiring part of her brain and skull to be removed. She lives in Electra, TX and was first transferred to Electra Memorial Hospital. She did not stay there long before being transferred to United Regional Healthcare in Wichita Falls where she was then Care- flighted to Zale Lipshy University Hospital in Dallas. Her family is in need of monetary support.  They are driving to and from the hospital every day and will stay on the weekends.  Fuel costs, hotel stays and food are very expensive.  Kim is also not covered under health insurance, and the medical bills are already piling up. With your support, we can ensure she gets the care she needs to return to health. Please take a moment to donate and share so that we may reach as many people as possible.

Kim is one of the kindest most loving friends I have had the extreme pleasure to know. She and Ernie have been married since August 7, 1996 and have 3 beautiful children, BJ, Megan and Mason.

Together, Kim and Ernie have worked together at Lone Star Muscle cars in Wichita Falls. Kim is an avid scrap-booker whose recent endeavors was building the “Scrappy Shack” behind her home.

This project was just completed on October 20, 2018. This was a six-month long project that Kim was so excited for.  Now she has a place to do her crafts and scrap-booking without destroying her home. She is very particular about the way her home looks. She is also very decorative. Every holiday you can find beautiful and fun decorations throughout her whole home! Her favorite holiday is Christmas, where she styles and decorates several trees

and has every Santa Figurine you could possibly imagine.

She was so excited to get up her tree that contained her mother’s ornaments. Her mother passed a few years ago and Kim has really struggled with the loss of her best friend. Kim and her mother did everything together.

We want to get Kim back in the Scrappy Shack so she can continue documenting her memories on those beautiful scrapbook pages.

On Friday, January 4, Kim attended the funeral of her best friend Aundrea’s cousin.  They sat together and then afterwards, Aundrea rode back to Electra with Kim where they had lunch together and chatted.  She then got busy taking down her Christmas décor.  After Midnight, Kim began having a severe headache but bushed it off and told her family she was fine.  A while later, the children woke up Ernie and told him that Kim was vomiting and very sick. Ernie went to check on her and she still insisted that she was fine until she started talking jibberish and no longer able to understand. That is when an ambulance was called and Kim ended up at a hospital in Dallas where it was determined that she suffered a Massive Stroke. Doctors placed a catheter to relieve the pressure and swelling on Kim’s brain. They also placed her on a ventilator to breath for her while she became stable.  The next step to get her on the road to recovery came on January 6 where doctors performed an angiogram and then the coil process to fix the bleeding. They also removed part of her skull to help relieve the pressure built up. If you know Kim, she is going to be mad when she sees that her hair has been shaved. LOL. I think she will get past that though. It then became a wait and see scenario to know if the surgery helped.  On January 7, Kim reacted to stimulation and has movements on both sides of her body. Later that day she was moved to “Spontaneous” successfully on her ventilator which means that she is breathing on her own but it will kick back in if her body gets too tired. Later that evening, Kim became more active and responded to stimulus more. On January 8, doctors and nurses said that Kim wiggled her toes on command and gave a thumbs up. She has also been presenting movement on both sides of her body.  As of this morning,  January 10, Kim has started running a fever due to an infection in her lungs and is still not awake. In the morning, doctors will perform another angiogram.

We will keep this page updated so that anyone who does not follow the family on Facebook can come back here and check her progress.

Please share and donate, but above all, pray for a magnificent healing.

Thank you,
Family and Friends of Kim McConnell
