Devastating Fire Leaves Family of 7 Homeless
Donation protected
A local Duncannon family of seven lost everything in a horrific house fire overnight on Saturday, August 20, 2022. The family had just left on Friday to go on a short, well-earned, family vacation to Ocean City before their five children started school. They had several prepaid events scheduled for their vacation. However, on the very first morning, Meghan and Charles Schreiber and their five children were woken to the devasting news that their home and everything they own was destroyed in a fire. Meghan's mother, aka Grandma, was housesitting for them and was there when the fire occurred. Fortunately, she escaped the house unharmed. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the family's pets, including 3 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, a chameleon and fish; so much sorrow, so much pain and loss, it's truly hard to imagine. No one in the family was injured in the fire and for that, we are all thankful. The family was told by the fire crew that if they had been home at the time of the fire, not all would have made it out alive.
The family had just finished shopping for clothing, shoes and supplies for the new school year, which started this week. All was lost. The children include three girls aged 16, 10, and 5 and two boys aged 11 and 6. There is a drop-off station at the Dauphin Middle Paxton Home Association at 227 Erie Street, Dauphin, PA. The phone number is [phone redacted]. Donations will be accepted Wednesdays between 1 and 7pm until September 25, 2022.
We created this fundraiser in hopes that you will find it in your heart to help this family in their time of need. We would like to thank you all in advance for your warm thoughts, kindness and generosity.
