Dear Supporters,

We are Saja and Ahmed, two university students studying Sotware Engineering whose dreams were once illuminated by the promise of a bright future . Unfortunately, the shadow of war has enveloped our path in darkness. Today, we humbly reach out to you for support as we open up about our journey - from the lives we lived before the war to the challenges we confront in its aftermath .

Hello, I'm Saja, a 20-year-old girl . I've spent more than half of my last year in this devastating war that has taken everything from us. It stole our homes, loved ones, future, and even ourselves. We're no longer the same people we used to be before this war started . our faces have become dull, and our spirits exhausted.

I had always heard that your twenties are the time when you start taking the first steps towards building a future where you live the dreams you've always wanted. But what happened to me was the opposite. The war changed the path I was plotting for my future. I should have been on the verge of completing my third academic year, but instead, I'm now struggling to cope with difficult living conditions, cooking over fire due to gas shortages, handwashing clothes in the freezing cold because of power outages, and facing many forms of daily suffering as a Gazan woman in war.

I've always believed that knowledge is the beacon of hope that lights up my life. That's why I've always been eager to gain knowledge through my studies to achieve high academic grades. I always ranked first in my school. I even graduated high school with a GPA of 99.4%.

I maintained high academic achievements and earned exemptions from certain courses due to my excellent performance. Alongside my studies, I pursued my passion for mathematics and computer science by delving into data science.

I participated in the "Data Science for All" training program with Correlation One, where despite its premature end due to the war, I gained valuable insights and connections within the field. Tragically, we also lost some dear colleagues during this time.

Let my brother Ahmed tell you his ambitious story and talk about himself and his successes.

Hello, this is Ahmed speaking to you from Gaza amidst the war and destruction. But I still have hope.

I excelled in my school studies and was passionate about acquiring knowledge from anywhere, keen on self-learning and continuous improvement. I completed my high school with a grade of 94%, then I joined Al-Azhar University to study Software Engineering, a specialization I had always sought. I learned a lot about it even before joining the university.

I stood out in my university studies.

I participated in conferences and technical communities. I loved my university and my specialization much, and I was proud to be part of this community that always seeks to share knowledge and support.

I started learning web development on my own and planned to start training in frontend engineering at a tech company in Palestine, honing my skills for the job market. I was also freelancing on Upwork, and I completed many jobs that I was very proud of. I was doing this while participating in various volunteer activities, teaching children and youth, and providing community assistance.

During the war, we lost our home that we built with love. I lost my friend, with whom I spent most of my time in the last period of my studies, my personal laptop, as well as my sister’s laptop. Computers are really essential for our field of study and line of work, but our devices were destroyed due to the bombing that hit our home and rooms, the place where we cultivated our dreams, aspirations, and hard work

We left everything behind us, our money, clothes, and personal belongings. We left carrying our worries and sorrows into the unknown, under the terrifying bombing and the constant threat of destroying our residential area and our city.

We fled towards displacement camps, a very harsh and painful experience that destroyed many things inside us. Our utmost ambition became to find lunch and drinkable water every day. We had to put our studies, dreams and aspirations on hold. It was difficult, but we had no other choice but to start adapting to these new circumstances which weighed heavily on all of us.

We spent our days searching for firewood and tree leaves to burn, and lighting fires to cook what little canned food we had, which didn't taste or look good and didn't satisfy our hunger. It's extremely exhausting.

We're all humans with dreams and ambitions. We see education as the greatest opportunity given to us to become better individuals and build a better society, helping our families, ourselves, and the community around us.

Unfortunately, the war took away everything we had built over the years. But I believe you can help us by donating. Any amount can assist us..

And if you can’t donate, I kindly ask you to share this donation campaign with others from your friends and family who might be able to help. Any support in any form is highly appreciated! Donating, sharing the campaign link, and praying for us– for the end of this devastating war, so we can rebuild what has been destroyed.

It's very tough, but hope still exists, and you, my friend, will play a big role in helping us through your donation. It will give us new hope and help us continue our education. If you can help us in any way, please contact us on our personal accounts below.
