Family Shop Recovery Relief (S&M Electronics)

Last night along with many other locally owned businesses in the Bronx, S&M Electronics owned by my parents was too, broken into, robbed, and completely destroyed, with an estimation of a 500k loss in value.

The Bronx was plundered and looted leaving dozens of Black and Latinx business owners with little to nothing in their names. S&M Electronics was owned by two immigrants who are raising 5 children, myself included. It was a store that served the greater Bronx community and its people for eight years, and my family's main source of income. Not to mention, our insure contract expired less than a week ago, and we haven't been able to contact them since.

Not only was my family's store raided, but they also hurt my parents physically, who were trying to stop the looting with their bare hands since there were no authorities available. S&M Electronics was more than just “a store” it was my family's livelihood. While we stand in solidarity and in support of the movement (racial, social, economic, and political equity for all) what happened in NYC’s most authentic and impoverished borough was wrong.

Anoche, junto con muchas otras empresas locales en el Bronx, S&M Electronics, propiedad de mis padres, también fue asaltada, robada y completamente destruida, con una estimación de una pérdida de valor de 500k.

El Bronx fue saqueado, dejando a docenas de dueños de negocios negros y latinos con poco o nada a su nombre. S&M Electronics era propiedad de dos inmigrantes que están criando a 5 niños, incluido yo misma. Fue una tienda que sirvió a la gran comunidad del Bronx y a su gente durante ocho años, y la principal fuente de ingresos de mi familia.

No solo fue atacada la tienda de mi familia, sino que también lastimaron físicamente a mis padres, que intentaban detener el saqueo con sus propias manos, ya que no había autoridades disponibles. S&M Electronics era más que simplemente "una tienda", era el medio de vida de mi familia. Si bien nos solidarizamos y apoyamos al movimiento (equidad racial, social, económica y política para todos), lo que sucedió en el distrito más auténtico y empobrecido de Nueva York estuvo mal.

Entendemos que estos tiempos son difíciles para todos. Pero si hay algo que está dispuesto a donar, lo apreciamos mucho. Volver a publicar y compartir también ayudará. Gracias y esperamos que todos se mantengan seguros
