family support expenses for Alex Beitzel

Alex Beitzel a 24 years old who has dreams of a healthy future. Alex is from Star NC. He is currently a patient at UNC Burn Center due to an accident on Sunday May 20th. He has 2nd degree burns on his face and 3rd degree burns over 40 percent of his upper body.

Alex will be intubated for at least 6 weeks for the Burn Unit team to provide surgery and treatments to begin the healing of his burns.

Since Sunday he has had several obstacles with his condition and has not been able to begin the much needed burn treatments. Although stressful for the family, they know Alex is a fighter as he continues to get through each day.

Alex is the oldest of six children, loves being outside, going fishing, tinkering with small engines and spending time with his siblings. He is the most loving big brother especially to his youngets sisters.

Alex and his family are fighters too. they never give up. His mom has been by his side since the accident. The family feels its important for a family member to be by his side or close by to monitor his care and advocate for him. His dad and other family members are traveling back and forth from Star. His brother and sisters are sending their love. The community is offering up prayers.

The family along with the UNC Hospital staff are working to make sure Alex can be accepted by medicaid. Which will definitely help with his medical care.

In the meantime, expenses pile up for the Mom to be able to stay at the hospital and the area. She lives in Laurenburg. She has 5 other younger children.

Alex's dad has always been there for his son. He has had to be away from work as he helps to monitor and supports his son's care. Being away from work means less money to support the children and family.

Its tough enough to just sit in the room with a loved one who is sedated and knowing the tough road ahead. Sitting there and not knowing if you have money for food, shelter or gas/parking adds to that stress.

Funds are needed for the family to be able to be there for Alex to advocate his care and support his recovery, especially while hs is not able to advocate for himself.
