Family traumatized and displaced from home
Donation protected
Imagine coming home from a fun evening of trick or treating with your 7-year-old son. Everyone in your home turns in early after a long week only to wake up 30 minutes later to the horrifying sound of bullets spraying through the windows of your living room where your son and his grandmother fell asleep on the couch while watching television. Imagine your son being terrified and trying to run down the hallway to your bedroom and having to scream to him to get down because he is no longer safe in his own home and neither are you. This isn’t a movie plot. This nightmare happened to my cousin Gloria and her family on Halloween Night and they have been traumatized. What’s worse is the shooters had the wrong house.
After speaking to neighbors the police are saying my cousin and her family were not the target. Thank God no one was injured. Unfortunately, the property damage done is severe after over 40 bullets were fired into their home and they cannot return to it. They also no longer feel safe there. Currently they are staying with family and scrambling to find a new place but everything is expensive. This is a very difficult time for them financially and emotionally as this happened so close to her son’s upcoming 8th birthday and Christmas. They lost their home and almost everything in it so they have to start over. I created this GoFundMe to ask for any and all support for them as they try to rebuild their lives and begin the healing process.
