Vehicle For My Sister & Her Family
Donation protected
I'm launching this GoFundMe simply in hopes to help my eldest sister, Gloria, raise money for a new family vehicle. She has a family of nine consisting of 5 girls, two boys, and two dogs. My name is Khalid and I have watched my sister work day after day to provide and support her household on her own while relying on her truck to start over every morning.
The transmission recently went out on her one night, leaving her stranded on a not so safe strip in Atlanta. Luckily, she could reach me and I was in a position to help tow her truck from the side of the street back to her house that night. School has now started back and my sister is completely overwhelmed scrambling to resolve her current dilemna. Naturally, the biggest fear she has now is simply not being able to sustain her household without a vehicle. In her area of Powder Springs, the local MARTA public transit system doesn't operate which makes traveling to and from work difficult and expensive. Some of her kids need checkups, one has an ear infection and she needs maintain getting to and from work otherwise she fears she'll lose everything she's worked so hard to attain for her family.
Despite furthering her own education and paying off an investment loan, she's determined she can still manage a car note but only with a down payment can her local dealer help her settle into a new car. I attempted to sign as a co-applicant but I unfortuantely don't meet the minimal qualification, despite my credit, due to my age and my own auto loan. Other members of our small family have determined they're unable to help financially and my sister Gloria just feels overwhelmed with fear and anxiety. She's been a role model, someone I looked up to while growing up. Even now, she's created such a heartwarming space for her children, sometimes only being able to provide them with food and clothes.
With our generous donations, Gloria can rest well knowing she and her family have safe commute wherever they need to go. She won't have to worry about whether she has a functioning gas guage reflecting how much gas is really in her vehicle. She won't have to worry about waiting on a Uber which will cost her $$ to get her to and from work and everywhere in between. She won't have to worry as much about her car breaking down after regular maintenance.
I want my sister to feel confident and know that she is capable and can continue to strive towards everything she's worked so hard for thus far. I want her to continue to be an inspiration and light of hope for her children while they grow up in our world today, and I want her to know not just how much I love her but how selfless and willing people from around the world can be to help those in need.
Ideally, I'm hoping to raise enough money in a week for her so she can secure a vehicle before inflamming her finances any further taking Ubers everywhere. To kickstart the fundraising, I'm personally donating $20. I really wish I could do more but I'm reaching my own financial limits pursuing school and recently moving out of our mom's home. I'm not expecting anyone/everyone to donate $20. Please donate whatever your comfortable donating.
If we reach our goal, I can ensure providing a personal thank you letter from Gloria, the children and I with pictures. The only social media I have is Instagram (@whyhabit) but I am also on LinkedIn (Khalid Ovesen). My sister has access to this account as well and I would encourage anyone donating to please leave a message of encouragement for her. We all go through troubling times in our lives but its sometimes just the selfless support and empathy shared by others which can push us over whatever hurdle stands before us.
Thank you.
