Familys Fight For Safety and Refuge
Hello to those of you taking the time to read and support this cause.
I have set this GoFundMe page up for a beautiful friend of mine called Janke and her 2 young children who are aged 6 and 8.
I am aiming to rally support and donations to appeal a decision by the Department of Immigration to help Janke and her children seek permanent refuge here in Australia so they can continue to be safe, healthy and have the future they deserve away from corruption and violence they experienced while living in South Africa.
Janke’s Story
Janke and her 2 children fled South Africa nearly 3 years ago hoping to find a new place to call home. A new country with endless opportunities for her kids and most importantly safety. After numerous years suffering in South Africa along with attempted child abductions and numerous violent attacks, as well as DV (which was never spoken about), she used all the money she had to book flights to come to Australia.
Since being here her and the children have settled in very well, becoming part of the Sunshine Coast and enjoying all it has to offer. The children attend a fantastic school where they now have the chance of a quality education and can attend school safely. Janke is a hard-working single mum who has worked with the same company now for 2.5 years in a full-time position. Juggling school and work to make sure the most is being made of living in such a great country and to also just be like every other person who lives here. To be proudly Australian (their dream).
Further to working full time, volunteering in the local community and being an upstanding member of the community, Janke is also writing a book about her journey in D.V. and their incredible journey to find their way to Australia. "Not broken just a little BENT" will be a must read and worth support in every way.
Unfortunately, everything she has sacrificed and worked so hard for is under threat. Her and her children's safety and ability to stay here safely and continue to be contributing “Australian’s” is in the hands of the Department of Immigration. Their application for Refugee Status was declined due to an assumption made by Department of Immigration. Meaning they may not be able to stay and receive a permanent visa.
Due to this and because of the obvious reasons of the dangers of being sent back to South Africa, an appeal has been lodged against their original decision. These appeals cost money for legal help to ensure Janke and the children have the best chance of success in having it overturned. Meaning they are able to stay and further their life here on the Coast. The costs can be up to $25,000 to fight for their future here but aiming for $15,000 to start with to get the ball rolling.
Can you please help my selfless friend? This selfless mum who is trying all she can to give her children the best chance at a life, happiness and safety.
Any donations no matter how small would be greatly and forever appreciated.
These donations go directly to Janke as the sole beneficiary of this fundraiser.
