Children with Hair Loss

My name is Amar Issa and I was diagnosed with Alopecia at 9. For those who don't know, Alopecia is an autoimmune disorder that causes the immune system to attack hair follicles that it mistakenly sees as a threat. In short, this causes partial or complete hair loss. Growing up and dealing with this situation impacted me mentally and emotionally. Feeling like I was the only one dealing with this type of struggle, I frequently felt alone. However, moving forward in life, I realized having a community and support system is one of the main things that has made this process easier. Although it isn't quite understood by others what it's like to have this type of struggle, having the support and contribution is more than anyone could ask for. My goal is to bring some change to those struggling with hair loss by creating this Gofundme and seeking donations to help families receive wigs and hairpieces. This act of support will make children around the country who struggle deeply with this issue feel a part of something. Every situation in life should be turned into an example of positivity, and through the action of donating and people contributing, alot can be done.

More information about Children With Hair Loss, Inc: Children With Hair Loss (CWHL) is a non-profit organization providing human hair replacements at no cost to children and young adults facing medically-related hair loss. When a child's hair is lost due to cancer treatments, alopecia, trichotillomania, burns, etc., the painful effects are far deeper than cosmetic. The cost to provide these services is up to $3,000 per child. CWHL can maintain its pledge that no child will ever pay for hair replacement, thanks to the many donors and volunteers.
