Far UVC in pilot school to slow virus spread

So...

We will install Far UV-C virus-killing lights in a Title I elementary school in the Midwest. It will help the kids in one class per grade (that’s all we can afford for now) AND serve as a pilot to show a real world example of how well this technology works as a virus mitigation tool, specifically for airborne pathogens like SARS-CoV-2.

After a year (so by end of May 2025), we will have compelling attendance data showing that the pilot classes (6 classes total, which includes approximately 125 kids plus their 6 teachers) had significantly higher attendance rates compared to their peers who didn’t have Far UV-C installed in their homerooms.

We will share this data in any easy-to-present format for you to take to your own schools and even churches, offices, and nursing homes to make a strong case for installation in the indoor spaces you and your loved ones frequent.

  • First goal: $15K gets us one light per homeroom per grade—enough for robust results by the end of the school year. To assure the students in these chosen classrooms don’t get virus exposure in other areas of the school, we will also install Far UV-C in common areas like buses, bathrooms, library, gym, art room, and music room. There is no cafeteria.
  • If we exceed the fundraising goal, we will add on another pilot school (nominations open!)

Breakdown for renting the devices: $50/month x 10 months x 21 Krypton ceiling mounted lights x $250 per light for a local electrician to install = $10,500 paid to the vendor + $5,250 for the 3rd party installation = $15,750.

After a successful first year, we are hoping this pilot school will choose to keep the lights installed and pay for them with the extra state and federal funding received from increased attendance predicted for the ‘25-‘26 school year. If they refuse to pay for the lights, Far UV has agreed to remove them at no additional charge.

If you would like to nominate a school for us to consider for a similar pilot program, please send us a message.

Transparency—we will share openly about money raised, how it is used, and the school selection process. And we promise to answer any questions to the best of our ability!

Thank you for helping students focus on learning and avoid health issues from mold, allergens, bacteria, and viruses!
