Celebrating Mark Kustelski

We came up with our initial goal rather arbitrarily: a minimum to cover cost of cremation, and pizzas for the memorial party. However, political work and campaign organizing does not often include compensation, much less benefits/insurance/retirement. All contributions above our initial goal will go directly to Shanna to assist her in this challenging time.

Mark Kustelski left us unexpectedly last week, and our hearts are broken.

A notable figure in Saint Louis City, Mark was active here in entertainment, politics, and public policy.

Mark's life was dense with experience. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, he served as an officer in Germany, then returned to earn an MBA from Indiana University.

Committed to change, Mark threw himself into working on many political campaigns, resulting in historic elections for Bruce Franks, Cori Bush, and Wesley Bell. Mark was also instrumental in the campaigns for Kathy Ellis, Heather Navarro, Jesse Irwin, and Stephen Jehle.

Mark loved talking to people about their own passions and ideas. When he was fully engaged in a project, his energy and intensity were unmatched. He laughed frequently, loved greatly, put in the work, and touched the lives of so many people.

We plan to celebrate Mark’s life and love on Saturday 17 September at Yaqui’s and Earthbound Brewing 6-9pm on Cherokee St in St Louis Missouri. Please join us!
