Farm Wasserprojekt in Namibia

Unsere Farm, Amatola, liegt in der schönen Gegend zwischen Hochfeld und Summerdown in Namibia und wird derzeit als Vieh- und Wildweide genutzt. In Zukunft möchten wir mit mehr Vieh, Landwirtschaft und Gemüse fortfahren- mit einem großen Problem- einem Mangel an Wasser.

 

Amatola hat zur Zeit nur eine Wasserstelle auf 3,000 Ha Land. Dieses Wasser wird 11 km von der einzigen Hauptbohrung gepumpt, die nur maximal 6 Kubikmeter hat.

 

Namibia hat eine lange Geschichte der Wasserknappheit aufgrund des trockenen Klimas und der hohen Verdunstungsraten. Die Regenzeit 2018/19, eine der trockensten seit 1981, verzeichnete nur 50% oder weniger des durchschnittlichen saisonalen Niederschlags. Namibia hat jedoch eine gute Versorgung mit hochwertigem Grundwasser. Leider ist das Bohren nach Wasser und das Kauf der Solarpumpen in ländlichen Gebieten sehr kostenaufwändig.

Auf Amatola versuchen wir unseren Angestellten die Gelegenheit zu geben, sich selbst zu versorgen. Gerade in unserem Land ist dieses für unsere Einheimischen sehr wichtig. Die Strecken zwischen Dörfern sind weit, in den Städten zu wohnen ist hochpreisig und unsere Lebensmittel sind sehr teuer. Auf der Farm zu leben und diese Möglichkeit zu haben ist für alle Einheimischen ein riesen Vorteil. Sie sparen dadurch Geld, leben gesünder, tragen zum Umweltschutz bei und schaffen eigene Vorräte.

Auf Amatola stellen wir nicht nur Arbeitskräfte und Lebenszwecke unserer Angestellten ein, sondern versuchen auch alte Rinderrassen und Wild zu erhalten. Um unsere ganzen Vieh-, Wild-, Landwirtschaftspläne, Futter- und Trinkwasser für die lokale Farmgemeinschaft und Angestellten mit ausreichendem Wasser zu versorgen, müssen wir 2-3 neue Bohrlöcher bohren, um mindestens weitere 10 Kubikmeter zu finden.

Die Bohrkosten hängen von der Tiefe des Grundwasserleiters ab, die bis zu 200 Meter betragen kann. Die Bohrung kostet etwa 30 EUR pro Meter und eine Solarpumpe kann etwa 2.300 EUR kosten.

 

Ihre Unterstützung würde die Kosten für das Bohren und die Ausrüstung für die Wasserverteilung für das gesamte Farmgebiet von 3,000 ha decken.

Our farm, Amatola, is located in the beautiful area between Hochfeld and Summerdown in Namibia and is currently used as cattle and game pasture. In future, we want to grow bigger with our livestock, agriculture, and vegetables - with one big problem -water shortage.

Amatola currently only has one water point on 3,000 hectares of land. This water is pumped 11 km from the only main well, which has a maximum of 6 cubic meters.

Namibia has a long history of water scarcity due to its arid climate and high evaporation rates. The 2018-19 rainy season, one of the driest since 1981, recorded only 50% or less of the average seasonal rainfall. However, Namibia has a good supply of high-quality groundwater. Unfortunately, drilling for water and buying solar pumps in rural areas are very expensive.

At Amatola, we try to give our employees the opportunity to support themselves by being self-sustainable. This is very important especially in our country for our locals. The distances between villages are long, living in the cities and our groceries are very expensive. Living on the farm and having this opportunity is a huge advantage for all locals. They save money, live healthier lives, help protect the environment and create their own food supplies.

We not only create workforce and life purposes for our employees but also try to preserve old breeds of cattle and game. In order to provide adequate water for all our livestock, game, farming plans, feed, and drinking water for the local farm community and employees, we need to drill 2-3 new boreholes to find at least another 10 cubic meters.

The drilling costs depend on the depth of the aquifer, which can be up to 200 meters. The drilling costs around EUR 30 per meter and a solar pump can cost around EUR 2,300.
