Support Our Farmdale School House Preservation Project
We are filing a nomination of the Farmdale School House to the National Register of Historic Places. The Farmdale Schoolhouse is located on the campus of El Sereno Middle School in the El Sereno community of northeastern Los Angeles. Local architects, Bradbeer and Ferris, designed the Queen Anne Revival school building, which has a construction date of 1894. Historically, the schoolhouse sat on the Rancho Rosa Castilla, a large tract of land owned by Basque farmers, and served the rural community (later known as El Sereno). Today the Farmdale School House is one of three original schoolhouses still standing in Los Angeles.
Your donation will help us add our very first El Sereno building to the National Register of Historic Places, cover the consultation fees of the nomination, and purchase a plaque. The purpose of the El Sereno Historical Society is to preserve, research, and celebrate the historic heritage of El Sereno.
Our non-profit EIN is 37-1738136. You can make a difference by donating today to El Sereno Historical Society.
