The Academy of Engineering at Farrington High School in Kalihi, Hawaii has embarked on an ambitious endeavor with the World Surf League and their non-profit partner, the Hawaii Youth Surfing Development Organization (HYSDO) to challenge students to design, develop, and construct a mobile retail trailer to be utilized and showcased at all Oahu professional and amateur surf events.
Our students have spent the last two school years collaborating with WSL, HYSDO (who have already provided the initial $30,000), as well as engineering firms, designers, city and county officials, teachers, administrators, and many others. This collaborative partnership has yielded significant benefits for our students, school, and community.
Students worked side by side with industry professionals who provided valuable guidance, insight, feedback, and support throughout the course of the project. Our industry partners, students, as well as community stakeholders have embraced this endeavor and have dedicated much time, effort, and love to this project. It has been a true catalyst for many of our teachers, administrators, and major motivating factor for our students; many of whom are immigrants, poor, and are still learning to speak English.
With 7 days remaining, we are in the home stretch. We are seeking moderate financial support to fund the final portion of the trailer - the graphics, logos, and vinyl wrap. These finishing touches represents the last hurdle and signify a major accomplishment and success for our many dedicated students. It also represents our commitment to our clients, the World Surf League and HYSDO, to deliver on a promised, sleek, modern, and custom designed/constructed trailer.
Therefore, we are asking for financial assistance with our goal of raising the remaining $7500.00. Our academy relies heavily on the generosity of organizations and individuals willing to support our students. We write to ask that you consider making a donation to help our students realize their two years of hard work and dedication, and send our seniors off with the feeling of tremendous success.
Thank you for your generosity and support!!
