Give Young Adults with FASD a Home
Donation protected
At FASD Communities, we have an ambitious goal of creating sustainable living communities for adults with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). The idea is to provide young adults with FASD a home, where they will live, work, and thrive under the supervision of trained life coaches. After years of hard work, we have acquired our first FASD Community home in Platteville, WI and identified first three participants.
We need your support and donations today to subsidize tuition for these participants!!! 100% of every dollar you give will be spent on hiring professional staff, paying utility bills, and purchasing tools and equipment to empower young adults with FASD to gain practical job skills.
Who we are
We are a group of parents, educators, medical, and business professionals who formed an action group to improve lives of young adults with FASD. Many of us who adopted children had no idea that they had been exposed to alcohol in utero, resulting in permanent brain damage. We joined FASD Communities to make an impact in an area, where no other resources are available.
Why are we doing this and why should you care?
According to the CDC, 40,000 babies are born annually with some kind of alcohol-related neurological impairment. Recent study published by the Journal of the American Medical Association found that up to 1 in 20 American kids falls somewhere on the spectrum of disorders caused by maternal drinking. Yet, only 20 percent are able to live independently. After years of safety and stability at home, our kids often crash and burn when they transition to adulthood. Without proper support systems in place, they end up homeless, chronically unemployed, and incarcerated - all because their disability often makes them unable to clearly see how their actions have consequences.
How are we different from other groups?
We are the only nonprofit solely dedicated to creating a supportive residence with training programs for young FASD adults who are in crisis now.
You too can make a difference!
