Peter Oleski and River Leo
I’m Skyla (organizer of this campaign) daughter of Peter and sister of River and We come from Lil’wat Nation in Mount Currie, BC.
Peter Oleski and his son River Leo, of the Lil'wat Nation (Mt. Currie) went missing on Thursday, October 22, 2020 while out mushrooming. Peter's truck was located the day after they went missing in the McKenzie Forest Service Road basin area (in Pemberton). Search and Rescue teams from many municipalities, along with many volunteers from the Lil'wat Nation and surrounding communities have been relentlessly searching from day 1. The families, Sara Leo (River's mom) and family, Norma Pierre (Peter's mom) and family, Hedy Oleski (Peters adoptive mom) and family, appreciate the support that has been provided. There has been some funds donated to help the families out in the search.
This Go Fund Me page was set up to provide financial assistance in the search for Peter and River. Including fuel for volunteer searchers trucks, quads and side by sides, food, lodging and we’d also like to donate back to all of the local restaurants and hardware stores that have donated food and supplies to us. Also recovery funds for when they were found.
They were found on the afternoon of Thursday, October 29th and the family is currently working on details of their services.
Funds will initially go towards the services for Peter and River and donations will be made to volunteer searchers, drivers and supplies for the search. We would also like to donate back to all of the local restaurants and hardware stores that have made donations to us during the search.
Any further funds, the families would like to go towards some kind of local mountain awareness training.
