Father Don Hyatt is a friend and has been the Support for many in need, from students at St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque and after that the people of Sierra County, New Mexico….Truth or Consequences, Elephant Butte, Monticello, Winston, Chloride, Arrey, Derry, Garfield, Salem….providing Mass, Baptisms, Funerals and our other Spiritual support and needs.
In March of this year, Father Don had a terrible accident in his home and is now totally blind. In spite of this, Father continues to want to help those in need, to say the Mass, do Baptisms and Funerals and helping others in need.
To do this, Father Don needs the help and support of his friends. While he gets a small pension from the Basilian Order of Priests, of which he is a member, it is barely sufficient to pay for his rent, care, medical and other living expenses.
We have had good response to the GoFundMe in the past month since we started, having raised almost $9,000, but this will go quickly once we start purchasing the things that will allow him to get back to his Ministry. Specialized items for the totally blind are incredibly advanced today, but they are also expensive. Specialized computer, scanner, audio books, cell phone, and on and on, all things that will help him.
