Fatou's Car and Rest Fund
Donation protected
Hi friends! I'm Shewit and I'm reaching out to community to ask for support for my dear friend Fatoumata.
This past weekend Fatou was involved in a car accident that left their car in an unusable condition; while thankfully no one was injured in the accident, the trauma and material fallout from the accident is overwhelming, especially on top of all of their other responsibilities. Fatou is currently working two jobs to put themselves through medical school in a city that's far away from their main support systems and is navigating all of this as a black queer immigrant.
Currently, their car is being worked on and the mechanic estimates it will take 3 weeks to repair but this could range to 4 weeks depending on the availability of materials. The repairs include replacement of the suspension system, the entire bumper, and two doors on the passenger side. We're looking to raise 8k total to cover the repair, the cost of a car rental during this time period, and to provide Fatou with some breathing room from work so she can take time to heal and rest, which is desperately needed and deserved.
Now is the time to invest in love and uplift black queer folks who are out here doing the work, so please share with your networks, your families, friends, Haverford/Bryn Mawr alumni, etc. Thanks in advance to everyone who will donate, support & share!!
