Faustino Martinez Rivera Fund

On Sunday May 30 our father Faustino was outside in his beautiful and lush garden doing some yard work as he did every single day. He had a tragic accident while trimming a palm tree. He fell off a ladder and suffered very severe and life threatening injuries to his spine, ribs, sternum, and other internal organs. He was transferred from Kern Medical Center Trauma unit to Loma Linda Medical Center and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit waiting for further treatment. He is currently intubated while lightly sedated. We are fortunate that he can still hear my mom, siblings, and grandchildren speak to him. He squeezes our hand when we are near his bed to let us all know he can hear us.

We are all staying at a hotel 1.5 miles from the hospital in order to monitor his condition closely and to advocate strongly for my father when speaking to his nurses, doctors, case workers, and other specialties. We are asking for your help to alleviate the financial burden to my family to help cover the costs of food, lodging, transportation, and medical expenses. Any donation helps and will be used to alleviate the financial burden to my parents.

At this time visitors are being restricted to immediate family and siblings. As a family we are closely monitoring visitors due to the fact that my father’s vitals are affected by too many visitors. We are so appreciative of all the phone calls, many meals, financial donations, and visits from our family and friends. Lastly our family wants to thank the staff at Kern Medical Center and Loma Linda Medical Center for caring for my father with care, compassion, and tenderness.
