FAWN Fundraising for Friends of Ruby & The AFC
When FAWN's Convergence Theory season finale was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown, we invited artists from the show to create their own digital media sets for an online audience. We decided to make these performances free to view, and use this as an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for two incredible charitable organisations: Friends of Ruby and The AFC. Friends of Ruby is a queer youth drop-in in Toronto that brings youth together for meals, activities, support groups and community. The AFC provides confidential, compassionate support to entertainment professionals to help them maintain their health, dignity and ability to work, including services in mental health, financial wellness and emergency financial aid.
For those who are able, please consider donating in place of what you would spend on a ticket to see a FAWN show. We are excited to evenly divide the funds raised via our digital Convergence Theory series and give it to these two important support organisations.
Thank you for being a part of this act of community!

FAWN's final Convergence Theory performance is being co-presented by the Canadian Music Centre on July 22 at 8pm as part of their Multilocations Festival, curated by Nick Storring.
nature, interrupted is a new video album by music creator Dame Cook (she/her/they/them) and multimedia artist Hollis Bullock (they/he) as part of the digital edition of FAWN Chamber Creative’s Convergence Theory series. FAWN’s series aligns the expressionistic spirit of experimental electronic music (from classical and beyond), new media art and their audiences as a means of broadening the community as listeners and artists.
Cook was to perform live in FAWN’s 2019/2020 season finale, co-curated by FAWN and experimental electronic artist David Jones, which they re-envisioned for the digital environment in response to the shut-down of live performance. Cook and Bullock rose to the occasion and developed a sort of time capsule of their creative process during the first summer months of the pandemic.
FAWN's 2020/21 digital edition of their Convergence Theory series also included a stereoscopic set by Maxime Corbeil-Perron for which audiences were mailed 3D glasses to enjoy the show, followed by a 360 degree 3D animated set by Driftnote whose modular electronic music led viewers through an evolving environment that audiences could explore on their computers, tablets or phones. We're so excited to be presenting Dame Cook's and Hollis Bullock's new video album nature, interrupted with the CMC to close our season and fundraising campaign.
