Our friend Faye Brown is having a lengthy three-part surgery on Valentine’s Day at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta for a detached retina. Surgeons will begin with a buckling procedure on the eyeball, then remove the vitreous fluid from eye, and finally add a bubble.

The surgery is long but the time and requirements for recovery bring the most challenges. Faye will need to lay face down for 20 hours/day for three weeks. Rental equipment will be needed for the healing period. Faye will not be mobile; her income will stop since she won’t be able to work. Her insurance will cover some costs; however there are still co-pays and deductibles.

We know Faye has faced many setbacks in the last few years, including the heart attack, the loss of her dear Tony's companionship as well as his income. She had a retinal detachment twice before and other eye concerns. This surgery should handle the detachment issue, but she was told she will need cataract surgery later.

Still she has persevered, kept her sense of humor and that smile on her face. A small group of friends are starting a GoFundMe page for her to help her through this difficult period. She would never ask for the assistance herself but we know the basic food, utility, and housing costs do not pay themselves. Please give whatever amount you are able. We know any amount will be truly appreciated by Faye. It will decrease the financial stresses and as important, strengthen her morale and resilience. Thank you and God bless every one of you.
