Hi my name is Bruce and my wife and family are residents of Richboro.
For many months during the summer of 2023 I would pass through a local Richboro shopping center to go to and from work and could not help but notice a damaged silver Volkswagen Jetta with a woman sitting inside of it.
A month ago on my way home from work I began my normal path home and this time I refused to pass this car and this woman inside of it without seeing if she was ok or needed help.
As I pulled up along side this damaged car the woman rolled down her window and I asked her if she needed help.
She explained that her car had broken down and was not running any longer and she has been living out of it for an extended period of time.
She explained it wouldn’t start and has no heat on cold nights, she told me her name was Elizabeth and she was 67 years old.
I told her I would be back the next day to help her and see if I could fix the car.
The next morning I returned to find the car had a damaged oil pan and dead battery and was inoperable and need of fixing.
A local mechanic Tom White from Tom’s Automotive on Bustleton Pike volunteered to tow it to his shop to attempt to fix it.
Now the problem was Elizabeth was with out a car or a home.
That car was her home!
My family decided to loan her our 2004 Toyota Corolla so she would be warm and have a place to stay.
She has been in that Corolla ever since.
Tom from Tom’s Automotive Repair informed me her Volkswagen Jettas oil pan was cracked and she had multiple antifreeze leaks and could take awhile to fix. Tom donated all the labor and has been an incredible human being to help Elizabeth and us.
Fast forward to today 12/1/23 we are gifting Elizabeth our Toyota Corolla so she has a reliable vehicle and a warm place to stay. She told me today she was able to go to the library and see people she knows and that she used to volunteer there. She was also able to go to a department store to get some personal items she needs.
My family has gotten to know Elizabeth very well and she is very intelligent, articulate and very funny!
Elizabeth has in the past worked at a Fortune 500 company as an executive assistant, at a school district in Delaware County as a TA and numerous other employers all while raising four children.
Elizabeth moved to Richboro to be with family but the situation changed upon arrival.
She has been homeless ever since.
Tonight we took Elizabeth to Guiessepes in Richboro for dinner and she was trying to teach us Italian and exclaiming how beautiful the restaurant was.
Elizabeth is a beautiful human being with a huge heart who needs the community’s help to get back on her feet.
She is very educated and dreams of having her own apartment again and a warm bed and a safe place to stay.
My family is asking the community’s help in raising enough money to find Elizabeth a safe 1 bedroom apartment in the area for at least a year until her housing application with Bucks County Oppurtunity Council is approved which could take awhile.
Elizabeth is registered and waiting for her housing to be approved but we can not let her car be her home!
My family is determined this holiday season to make Elizabeth’s life better!
If you met Elizabeth your heart would grow ten fold.
We are asking for donations to help get Elizabeth an apartment and and a safe place to put her head at night!
I am willing to co-sign for her.
Please give what you can even $1 helps.
Every penny will go to Elizabeth and getting her into housing and out of her car.
If you know of an apartment in the area or are thinking of renting an apartment please message me.
Elizabeth is a non smoker and has no pets and meticulously clean with no known health problems.
For some reason I was meant to meet Elizabeth that day and I thank God I did as she has changed our lives.
This holiday season please make a difference and help if you can.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
