Dear Supporters,
My name is Andrew Ruscoe, and I serve as the chairman of FC United of Wrexham, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering Futsal and Football talent in the Wrexham region. Since our establishment in 2020, we've been driven by a long-term vision of reaching the UEFA Futsal Champions League and ascending to the 2nd tier of Welsh football. Our club is more than just a sports organization; it's a community hub that supports men, women, and children in their sporting endeavors on a weekly basis.
Operating as a Futsal club in an area with socio-economic challenges presents its unique set of hurdles. Unlike traditional football clubs, we face constant outgoings, sometimes exceeding £700 a month. Despite the financial strains, we remain committed to our mission of empowering individuals through sports, particularly targeting mental health, learning needs, and employability support.
Recently, we faced a setback when a Social Media influencer's £5k donation was returned due to misalignment with our club's values. This unfortunate incident led to the loss of our main sponsor, a private donor, and even a Community Recognition Award. Consequently, our monthly bills have spiked to £700, as we must rent space from a local leisure center to continue delivering Futsal to our community.
To compound our challenges, Sport Wales, while supportive of coach education, hasn't provided ongoing project funding unless we expand our teams. This limitation further underscores the importance of seeking support from individuals like you who share our passion for community development through sports.
Despite the setbacks, FC United of Wrexham has made significant strides:
⚽️ Female players signed with Welsh Premier League sides
⚽️ Supported Three adult players reached Semi Professional clubs.
⚽️ Supported a youth player earned trials at Everton.
⚽️ Helped Four youth players gained trials & joined Wrexham AFC Academy.
⚽️ Helped Two youth players joined Welsh Academy sides like Airbus Academy.
⚽️Helped A player earned trials with Manchester City.
⚽️ Helped 5 coaches obtained recognized coaching qualifications.
⚽️ Helped to raise £11,000 for Oncology equipment at the #Wrexham Children’s Ward.
⚽️ Supported Welsh Blood services to save lives through blood donations.
⚽️ Featured on ESPN and Men In Blazers
⚽️ Returned a donation of £5,000 back to a Social Media influencer who believes in Misogamy and hatred towards females.
We understand that the fundraising goal of £12,000 per year is daunting. However, even a fraction of this amount would go a long way in sustaining our operations. If you're unable to donate, we kindly ask you to share our page and help us find potential sponsors or individuals who resonate with our vision.
As a gesture of gratitude, if we ever achieve our dream, all supporters will receive free season tickets. Your support, whether through donations or spreading the word, is invaluable in ensuring that FC United of Wrexham continues to positively impact lives through sports.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for considering supporting our cause.
