FC3 Firelands Cat Coalition & BH Cat Colony
Tax deductible
We here in Berlin Heights have been working diligently to spay, neuter, treat and feed a cat colony living around our work areas, especially near one of our workshops. We have been blessed by the support of Erie County's FC3 trap, neuter and release group. This benefit makes a 50-50 split of the funds in support of FC3 and raises money to feed and provide bedding to the remaining resident cats.
Our cat colony looks like the beloved black Halloween cat with yellow eyes. While many coworkers adopted some kittens, much work remains to be done.
The men in the rear shop care for the entire colony. In August, I learned that 2-female cats were about to give birth to additional litters. I took one mother to my home, who gave birth to 3-kittens the following day. This mother cat, Shu, has since been spayed, and her 3-kittens adopted. I adopted Shu and two kittens, and another co-worker adopted the 3rd kitten.
FC3 TNR has already performed several neuter/spays on our colony, yet I am most familiar with those I have been involved with. Besides Shu, FC3 spayed three young female cats and neutered Nita, the territorial male father cat of the colony.
We have successfully trapped the last fertile mama cat and one of her surviving kittens from a previous litter. These two represent the last of the colony needing FC3's services.
We, who have been involved in this project, hope to provide funds for FC3 and the medical teams who perform this vital work. FC3 and its medical providers need traps, food, medical supplies, medicines, and equipment to keep operations successful. In addition, money is required by FC3 to run its rescue and adoption network. Finally, our men in the workshop need additional funding to feed and care for the cats.
With winter pressing upon our doors, we need the funds to purchase at least 3-Igloo dog houses to house the remaining colony. It would be wonderful if those familiar with our cause would house and feed these resident cats in protected outdoor areas of their homes, but until then, we’d like to raise funds to continue to provide for this small colony. Thank you for being so supportive. "Human kindness has never weakened the stamina or softened the fiber of a free people." --Franklin D. Roosevelt
