Help Emily with Medical Bills

This is a fundraiser to help Emily McGrail with the influx of medical bills from her recent lengthy and complicated hospitalization. All of the donations will go straight to Emily’s bank account so she will be able to use the money to pay medical bills.
Emily has endured a lot through her life since a young child starting with a spinal cord tumor. The numerous surgeries and treatments throughout her childhood and teenage years have left her paralyzed. This has not stopped her though, as she has lived life to the fullest for the past 45 years. She graduated high school from Pulaski County High School. She went to college at Radford University and became an educator teaching elementary school students. She then became a title holder for Ms. Wheelchair Virginia and on to be the state coordinator for Ms. Wheelchair VA. She advocates for those with different abilities while also educating the community about how amazing individuals with different abilities are and how much they contribute to society. Unfortunately, the last few years have been more difficult for her from a health standpoint with an increase in hospitalizations. This most recent hospitalization has been the incredibly difficult, complex, lengthy, and honestly scary for her. Within the last 2 months, she has endured numerous surgeries, meningitis, sepsis, seizures, pneumonia, ventilators, tracheostomies, and oh so many antibiotics. We *almost* lost her twice. And then we did lose her mid June 2023 for 20+ minutes after she went into a PEA cardiac arrest in the middle of the night…days before she was actually going to be able to be discharged home. After successful CPR and ROSC, she came back to us. Her prognosis was poor given how sick she was. We were ready to say goodbye to her but she wasn't ready to say goodbye to us and this world. She continues to surprise us and continues to defy the odds which she has done over and over her entire life. She keeps fighting because she wants to keep living. She is ready to breathe on her own again. To eat again. To talk again. To get into her wheelchair again. To advocate for those with different abilities again. And most importantly: to get back home to be with all of her critters and her partner Ken. Please consider donating if you are able to help with medical expenses.
