Support for Sue

Many people have differing opinions on the definition of the words 'brave' and 'bravery'.

To me, the definition means to show courage; when faced with devastation, danger and disease.  The knowledge of impending pain and uncertainty has not dampened Sue's spirit.  In fact, when congratulated on finishing her last day as a staff member in Emergency (for a while), Sue simply smiled and graciously said thank you.  

Sue started nursing in 2007, and over the last 13 years she has cared for numerous people with the same illness she has been diagnosed with.  She has sat with patients and their families, held hands, wiped tears, and offered services to those in need.  She has felt their pain, and eased their hurt with that encouraging smile we all know and love.

The positivity and commitment Sue has shown to her friends, family, colleagues and patients must now be matched by us, which is where this gofundme page steps in.  The community of East Gippsland and the community of BRHS has the chance to say thanks, by supporting Sue through the fight of her life.

A small donation will assist in reducing the financial burden associated with cancer.  Whilst we are incredibly lucky to live in Australia where*free* healthcare can be provided, thankfully covering hospital stays, surgeries and treatment, it's not all free.  Cancer costs money.

Living in East Gippsland means access to tertiary hospital healthcare is a seven hour round trip away.  Living in East Gippsland means the specialists Sue seeks probably have never seen her face to face.  Living in East Gippsland means there are costs associated with transport, accommodation, time off work for her and her partner, and costs with caring for her beloved pets and garden that needs to be considered - something an already worried mind should not have to deal with.

The other thing about living in East Gippsland, is that here, we are strong, resilience is strong, Sue is strong.  So to those who are able to donate; we stand with Sue to say a big FU to cancer, and we are with you Suzy Q, now and always.
