Hi!
My name is Amanda, I am a 36 year old wife and mother from Tampa, FL. I recently found out that I have stage 3 cervical cancer that may have spread to my pelvic lymph nodes and I need to start radiation treatment and chemotherapy right away. The doctors have advised me that I should have a surgery before radiation for a few reasons 1. To see how far the cancer has spread and if it is in my pelvic lymph nodes 2. To move my ovaries and help me from going into early menopause, the radiation with kill them if not. 3. My PET Scan showed something near my bladder and the surgeon will be able to see what is happening and if there is anything to worry about. I desperately need to start treatment but unfortunately due to job changes and COVID shut downs over the last year I am currently not insured and have recently had to quick working because of the pain waves, fatigue, and nausea. I have applied for Medicaid and for financial help through the hospital foundation, however I am waiting to hear if I got approved.
It is life changing to find out you have cancer and very hard. I am personally having a tough time not crying every minute andI trying hard to remain positive. It is hard to stay positive when you know cancer is growing inside of you and you can’t afford proper treatment.
