All units stand by for a message…
Today, the members of the FDNY’s Brooklyn Central Office are asking for your help in the recovery efforts for Brooklyn Dispatcher 290, John Abouricheh. John has come to face an extremely challenging time in his life and with the help of friends, family, co-workers, and anyone else willing to help, we hope to ease, however so slightly, the burden he now faces.
John has been a Fire Alarm Dispatcher for over 15 years, serving the citizens of Brooklyn for most of that time. He wears his heart as well as this job on his sleeve. He takes the utmost pride in what we do. This has paved his path to becoming what most would consider one of, if not the best, dispatcher on this job. John is a mentor, a natural-born leader, and an amazing friend and son who would give you the shirt off his back if needed.
Last night, John’s apartment caught fire. Aside from monetary struggles, the amount of absolute turmoil he is now facing is astronomical. Furniture and belongings can be replaced, but his personal and well-cherished memories aren’t as easily recouped.
John is now faced with the daunting task of rebuilding a home all the while keeping a brave face. He and his mother, Janice, are in need of all of his friends and family—both blood and brothers and sisters of the FDNY—to be the shoulders to lean on. He truly deserves nothing less.
Thank you for any and all contributions.
