On January 19, 2024, Layla, 18 month old beautiful baby girl, was found in her bed unresponsive and blue. She was rushed to the nearest hospital and the paramedics did everything they could to revive her. She was soon pronounced deceased shortly after arriving to the hospital. She leaves behind a loving mother, Tia Washington, and her older sister, Paris Washington, 6 years old. Layla passed two days before Paris birthday. We as the family still found the strength to celebrate Paris, especially because she was present during this devastating moment and she has many questions. Paris would ask, "Mommy, why did you leave Layla at the hospital?", or say things like, "Tete, Layla is not in the sky, she is afraid of heights". We are not sure how to answers these questions yet and we will be seeking counseling for Paris very soon.
We as the family are extremely heart broken. Tia is having difficulty eating and sleeping, we have been forcing her to take care of herself. This is the greatest pain anyone could ever experience and we love and miss Layla so much.
Layla was a feisty, smart, funny and loving baby-girl. She would run up to her Grandmother everyday when she gets home from work, screaming "Grannnyyy!!" with the biggest smile. She knew how to call her tete on video and pretend talk with her. When music come on, she is the first one to start bouncing to the beat. She loved helping others and always took care of her autistic three year old cousin by offering him every toy she found. She loves to hangout with her granny on her father side as well. She would eat up all their food and act like she runs their household. This pain is unbearable and missing her will never go away.
We started this fundraiser because Layla was only 18 months old and we did not yet establish life insurance. This was so soon and unexpected, we thought we had time to prepare. The funeral cost is anywhere from 3500-6000 and we do not have that kind of money available on hand. We want to give Layla the proper burial that she deserves. A place were her big sister, mom, dad, and extended family can visit her for years to come. All donations at any amount is greatly appreciated.
We love you Layla!
