Glenda Johnson Fighting the Cancer Fight
Donation protected
Glenda Johnson is possibly the best math teacher around! She has been instilling the love of learning in students for many years from Georgia to Egypt to Heidelberg, Germany, to the Kaiserslautern community in Germany.
After nearly a year of not feeling well, trying to get a diagnosis but pushing through to teach her "kids", Glenda was diagnosed with colon cancer in May 2022. She was determined to complete the year with her students and only missed the last week of school to prepare for chemo and radiation. Instead of kicking off the summer like the rest of her colleagues, she was kicking off the summer trying to kick cancer! Her best friend from Georgia, Jami, spent the summer in Germany assisting Glenda with hospital stays, daily transportation to and from the hospital for chemo and radiation treatments, to assist with the never-ending red tape of living in another country and receiving medical treatment, and any and all of Glenda's needs.
Due to needing assistance after surgery and not having any family close, Glenda is traveling back to the States to receive care and with any luck the Mayo Clinic will be able to help her in this fight. Even though insurance will cover the bulk of her medical expenses, it never covers everything (i.e. gas to and from the hospital daily, prescriptions, deductibles, flights to the States, missing salary from leave extending past accrued or donated days, etc). As a single person living on one income, this diagnosis and the care surrounding it is quickly depleting her savings and makes life stressful. All those who have gone through treatment for cancer know it is imperative to keep a healthy mind to have a healthy body.
Glenda has always been there to help those in need. She has spent many years of her life in service to children who are our future, and now we need to support her in her time of need. All donations will be used to offset medical and household needs during the fight of her life! Any donated amount will defray the exorbitant cost of her cancer treatment, surgery and care that is not covered by insurance. No amount is too small and every donation is appreciated. Let's rally around Glenda and help to kick colon cancer to the curb!
