Féach, Supporting Blind & Vision Impaired Children
Donation protected
Hi my name is Eithne, I climbing Kilimanjaro for Féach, a charity that supports children and young people with vision impairment.
2 of my 3 children have grown up a vision impairment. They have less than 10% of their vision left and they are now young adults. Since they were diagnosed Féach has supported our family through every stage of the journey. There have been many hurdles to overcome to ensure our children received the services they needed to thrive and lead independent lives.
Accessing education, independent travel, life skills all add an extra burden to families, there is no map to guide you. When your children are first diagnosed is it really frightening. However, Féach through its services provided us with a map, a map drawn by parents who had gone before us. Féach is a small charity that receives no government funding. It is parent led and parent driven.
I will be climbing Kilimanjaro in July, for me it is a personal journey where I celebrate my children becoming young adults, and the journey they took me on. Kilimanjaro is 5895 meters high, every meter represents the 5895+ hours I spent chasing the services my children needed to ensure their needs were met, to guarantee them the inclusion they deserved and put them on a par with their sighted peers.
All money raised will go towards Féach (RCN) 20206606 the trip and all expenses are being covered by me.
