Aaniin Boozhoo, Seko, Taanshi & Hello
Feather Carriers is an Indigenous non-profit suicide prevention training program operating from its home base in Ontario and available across Turtle Island. We provide traditional and modern Indigenous knowledge related to life promotion and healing from trauma.
Each year in the fall we host a feast in honor of our eagle staff, which travels with our teachers when they go to communities to offer the life promotion training. The eagle staff comes to it's home base in Wasauksing First Nation on the shore of Georgian Bay in October, and feather carriers (miigwanaabiik) and supporters of life promotion come from all over the country to celebrate the great things it has done that year.
The eagle staff is at the heart of our life promotion ceremonies and is a great teacher itself.
This year, we hope to raise most or all of the funds necessary to put on a celebration of the eagle staff. We offer a sunrise ceremony, plus food and music to everyone who comes. We help elders come from far away to attend the feast, and some of our youth life promoters.
As we are a non-profit, the funds will only be used for the expenses of putting on the Eagle Staff Feast. If for some reason there are funds left over they would be saved for future Eagle Staff Feasts.
If there is some aspect of the Feast you would like to fund in particular, let us know in a note. Here are some example expenses you could request to cover:
-Elder travel and accommodation
-Food for attendees
-Cost of venue (Wasauksing Gathering Place)
-Youth leader travel and accomodation
-Those in need travel bursary
