Fedegbo Orile

Fedegbo Orile is a rural agrarian community located in the Orile local government area of Oyo State, Nigeria. With a population of 750 people and growing the community has many structural needs that have to be addressed for it to flourish. There is limited access to clean water for consumption and sanitation, and limited infrastructure for sanitation, and little to no electricity or power. 

If the quality of life of the people of Fedegbo can be improved, it would lead to the betterment of their social and economic status without having to migrate. This will further provide the type of manpower needed to further develop Fedegbo, a goal that we are committed to. We are appealing to you for assistance in our efforts to provide the following for the development of our village:

Three water wells with manual pumps. Currently, access to clean water for human consumption and sanitation in Fedegbo Orile is limited. These wells will not only have significant health implications in helping reduce the spread of water-borne diseases but, will also have implications for increasing the productivity of residents of Fedegbo in their daily activities. 

Two Public Toilets: The majority of houses in Fedegbo lack internal plumbing. The abundance of land in Fedegbo in the past allowed for easy access to the outdoors for bathroom needs and as a result, emphasis was not placed on the construction of toilets/latrines when building.  The expansion of the village and the loss of forest lands has created a health hazard prompting the need for the creation of public use bathrooms. The plan is to build two public toilets/latrines with eight stalls each. 

Solar lights and energy: The plan is to purchase 6 solar street lights and a power pack in the administrative building. The power pack in the admin building will serve simple basic needs like machinery for irrigation, water pumping machine,s and charging of cell phones.  The street lights will be placed in strategic locations in the village for illumination.

School: There is only (1) educational institution in Fedegbo. It is an elementary school that serves Fedegbo and three surrounding villages. The school consists of two buildings of three classrooms each. Some of the classrooms are dilapidated and are no longer safe to hold classes in it. The result is that classes have to be combined and this has led to overcrowding.  The classrooms need desks and chairs for the students who often have to sit on the bare floor to receive lectures.
