Feed a family during the COVID-19 crisis
Donation protected
COVID-19 cases are spiking throughout Cebu and the city has had to shut down. Over 20% of the Philippines already live below the poverty line, living off a small income of just a few dollars a day.
The majority of these people have not been able to earn that income for over a month now.
With no money coming in, people are starting to go hungry. Beyond hunger, they are unequipped for the pandemic and lack the resources to prepare for COVID-19.
Some of my team members and their families are spending their weekends putting together care packages for those people living on the street and in need. These packages contain sanitiser, masks, drinking water and staple foods.
Our team was doing this on their own initiative, with their own savings. We decided to create this Go Fund Me to increase their reach in the amount of people they are able to help. Lee and I will be matching the first $5,000 AUD donated via the page.
Donations go directly to the food that is distributed to the families by volunteers. Transferwise fees will be covered by Lee and I. Our Philippines project manager Baumel is responsible for purchasing and distribution. He will be posting all receipts and supply chain images in the updates of the GoFundMe each week for full transparency.
*please note that GoFundMe do charge a transaction fee.
We frequently put on community outreach events in Cebu City, providing meals to street children. The featured images are from these events. While the meals might not be going to these specific individuals, they are the faces I see when I think of the people we will all be helping.
