Feed a frontline worker!
Essential healthcare staff are working around the clock to keep people safe amid the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, the Brisbane restaurant industry is on its knees. Here's one way you can help both sectors.
Donate what you can here and 100 percent of the money will go to restaurants which will then issue meal vouchers and provide delicious take-away options for our front-line workers. Renowned restaurants such as E’cco Bistro (Philip Johnson), The Wolfe (Josh Lopez), Moda (Javier Codina), Spaghetti House Trattoria (Claire Parviz), 85 Miskin (Brent Farrell) and Proof BBQ & Booze (Ryan Lane) were the first offer this service. Take away options such as OMG Decadent Donuts and BurgerPL8 are also participating to provide quick pick me ups. The Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital Foundation and The Mater Hospital are on board, and will identify doctors, nurses and other health professionals who could do with a delicious meal in these difficult times so that when they finish a very long shift they don’t then need to shop and cook. Many of Brisbane's restaurants have closed permanently due to the virus, while others are offering takeaway to try to stay afloat - and keep at least some staff employed and suppliers (including farmers) paid.
For dedicated frontline essential workers at the coal face of the COVID-19 pandemic, keeping them well fed is essential. It’s a win-win so please give what you can.
Money donated will be professionally managed by Morris Commercial Law utilising The Trust Accounts Act 1973 (Qld). Participating restaurants at launch:
Ecco Bistro
The Wolfe
Spaghetti House
Proof BBQ & Booze
85 Miskin
Moda
OMG Decadent Donuts
Burger PL8
Do you have a favorite restaurant? If you'd prefer 100% of your donation to go to one of the restaurants above, that's no problem. Please specify in the comments which restaurant(s) from the list above you would like your donation to benefit.
How it works:
Donations to Feed The Frontline Brisbane will be withdrawn from Go Fund Me by Steven Morris of Morris Commercial Law utilising The Trust Accounts Act 1973 (Qld). Funds will then be divided between the participating restaurants listed above, respecting any specific donor request on which restaurant is to receive their money. Once the restaurants have received their share of the funds they will generate gift vouchers in varying denominations which, along with their take away menus, will be distributed to frontline workers in the following hospitals:
Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital
Mater Hospital
Princess Alexandra Hospital
QE II Hospital
Fleur Sharpe, organiser of Feed The Frontline Brisbane, is working with key philanthropy managers within each hospital to ensure restaurant vouchers are given to the frontline workers that need them most. The frontline workers who receive a voucher are free to redeem them while at work (in line with their hospitals policy on food deliveries) or they can be used while off duty.
Go Fund Me Tip: When you click the donate button and enter your donation amount, Go Fund Me will also prompt to make an additional (default) 10% donation to them. This is not compulsory. Simply click on the arrow for the drop-down menu and choose 'other' where you can enter $0 or a donation amount of your choosing.
