Feed & Bedding Appeal 2024
Donation protected
Dear Supporter,
Please help us to secure feed and bedding for our resident donkeys. With 97 donkeys in direct care we have almost exhausted our supplies as winter moves into spring. The ongoing cost of caring for so many donkeys is a constant financial pressure.
Once again we must turn to you, our wonderful supporters to ask for help to purchase hay and straw for the coming months.
Last summer saw many months of heavy rain falling which has led to a scarcity in supply of both hay and straw. Some crops were lost as a result of the consistent rainy weather while others were much diminished as growth was restricted. Many suppliers have had to access bales in the South of England which has escalated the cost owing to the haulage charges incurred. This scarcity has driven the price of both to levels that are unprecedented.
We need your help to ensure that all those in our care remain warm and fed until summer grazing is an option. Unfortunately recent weather patterns see this outdoor grazing happening later and later each year.
The one situation that remains unchanged is the number of donkeys who need our help. The ‘cost of living’ crisis has impacted so many people and has left many with no option other than to relinquish the care of their donkeys to our sanctuary. These creatures are the lucky ones as many are just abandoned on a roadside with their survival left to fate.
We CANNOT let them down. We need to plan for the months ahead in order to make sure that we have adequate supplies so that everyone is warm and fed. They deserve nothing less.
Finally, please share our campaign with family and friends in order to make people aware of the welfare work that we do. Please give these beautiful, forgiving creatures a second chance at life.
Thank you for taking the time to read this appeal. Your support is very much appreciated.
