Feeding Our Heroes & Supporting Local Restaurants
Donation protected
CENTRE COUNTY, PA-- Please join our efforts to show our healthcare workers on the front lines at Mount Nittany Medical Center how much we appreciate them while supporting local small businesses at the same time! Our goal is to raise enough money to provide meals to hospital staff at least twice a week for a month--or even longer, if necessary! The meals would be pre-ordered in bulk and individually wrapped from local restaurants, adhering to strict safety guidelines and approved by hospital administrators. The hospital schedules these deliveries and makes an effort to include different shifts and departments.
Please consider donating—any amount is appreciated—and help us spread the word! Together we can help local businesses and uplift our hardworking healthcare heroes during this trying time! If you come back to our page, you may notice our Goal is going up. We have been so overwhelmed by your positive and generous response so far, and we would love to be able to help local restaurants out even more! We also hope to be able to expand this to sending food deliveries to first responders if we raise enough funds.
(Also, please note-- we are not experts at using GoFundMe. The page currently lists Heddy as the "recipient." That is just because she is the one withdrawing the funds to pay the restaurants. She is not the beneficiary--our local restaurants and hospital workers are!)
UPDATE: As of April 16, meals have been ordered from and delivered to the hospital by D.P. Dough, Original Brothers Pizza, Texas Roadhouse, Benjamin's Catering, and Bonfatto's. Confirmed upcoming deliveries include RE/Farm Cafe, Snap Custom Pizza, Hiway Pizza, Champs, Home D, State Burger, with many more in the works. In addition, we were able to send deliveries to local EMS departments and Centre Volunteers in Medicine from Jersey Mike's and Brother's Pizza. Again, many more in the works!
We have also received great support from businesses and organizations in the community. Designers Studio in Boalsburg and J Stephens Salon & Spa in State College are both donating a portion of their sales to our cause, and we've received generous donations from Beer Belly's Beverage, Kissinger Bigatel & Brower Realtors, and State College Rotary Club.
Finally, we have received many heartfelt messages of thanks from healthcare workers and first responders. Here is one example: "Thank you very much for starting this fundraiser. I work at Mt Nittany Medical Center. I started crying while reading the news article about it. Tears of gratitude. Needless to say, this is an extremely emotional time for us as direct care givers... There are no words to express how grateful we are for the love and support from the community that we serve proudly. We will all get through this together."
Thank you to all in this community who are supporting this effort!
