Feeding Orphans in Ethiopia.

Donation protected

My name is Abraham Dejene and I am an Ethiopian American. I moved from Ethiopia to America at the age of 8 in hopes of a better life. The United States provided me with an opportunity for a better life and education. I have been fortunate enough to complete my Bachelor's in Business and Economics and my MBA from the University of Maryland in International Business.

In my frequent visits back to Ethiopia I have felt the need to  volunteer and give back as a Mentor, Program Coordinator and a Teacher. These roles were extremely rewarding and I do realize education is the most effective way of overcoming poverty but for these children to focus on their education, their basic needs such as food need to be met.

Over the years, using my own funds, I have been providing food and education to children who are orphans and homeless and that has been extremely rewarding but I realized in order to create something sustainable, I can't do it alone. Many of the orphans fall behind in school or never attend due to lack of resources and the biggest one is food.

( This is a picture of Abi and Yosef, 8 and 10 years old respectively, they live in (Arba Minch) southern part of Ethiopia. Both of them have been without a home or a parent for over 3 years. Neither one attend school because they spend their days scavenging for food and call a sewerage their home. These are just some of the stories of orphan children in Ethiopia)

Teaming up with a local orphanage (Entoto), let us provide breakfast/lunch for the kids so they can focus on attending school rather than worrying about where their next meal is coming from. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated. $1, $10, $20, $50.....etc. You might not think your small donation will make much of a difference, but a single dollar will feed a child in Ethiopia. This has been my passion for so long, so I will match every dollar donated to feed these children.

Every dollar down to the last penny will go directly to feeding these children.  I am using the funds to personally purchase all the supplies necessary rather than just providing the NGO's the funds  because I have witnessed only pennies from a dollar actually making it to the children. (most of it ends up going to "administration fees" and the salaries of the employees of the organizations). Let us feed 5000 children together.
