Feeding Our Heroes
Donation protected
The Feeding Our Heroes fund was organized by attorney Martin J. Minnella to feed Waterbury's local heroes including our healthcare workers, first responders, and police officers who are working tirelessly on the front lines in the battle against COVID-19.
Please join us in Feeding Our Heroes by donating whatever you can afford and sharing with your friends. Every dollar counts! Donations will go directly towards purchasing and delivering meals to our hardworking heroes from local restaurants, which will also support the businesses in the Waterbury area during this difficult time.

"Attorney Martin J. Minnella has helped to organize the “Feeding our Heroes” fund and has called on area business leaders, as well as the community to help with donations. The aim, he said, is to feed police, firefighters, nurses, doctors and other care providers as they stay on the front lines, battling the outbreak of COVID-19.
“They really need the help,” he said. “They are working 12-hour, 16-hour shifts.”
Minnella put in $1,000 to kick off the account and sent a stack of 25 pizzas to Saint Mary’s Hospital on Wednesday in order to feed the people who are caring for those afflicted by the virus. The city’s police force was next on the list for lunch, which was provided by Minnella and his law partner, Joe Tramuta, on Thursday.
He hopes the fund will grow to the point that it can feed those medical and emergency providers five days a week using a variety of restaurants from the area. That, he said, will also help support those local businesses.
Other donations have come into the police department in recent days, including respiratory masks from Home Depot, baked treats from Grace Baptist Church, Pat Zainc with boxes of doughnuts, D’Amelio’s Italian Eatery which fed the officers and Camp Mattatuck, which donated masks and antiseptic wipes.
“The outpouring of the support from the community has been incredible for the department,” said Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo.
People continue to drop off food, cards, give prayers and support in many different forms, he said.
“It’s so heartwarming – it keeps the officers upbeat while we continue to navigate through this,” Spagnolo said. “And we will.”
