Feeding The Community Stockport

My name is Tim Harper. I am a trustee of Feeding The Community, a volunteer group in Stockport that provides hot meals to the community.

We have secured a number of trustees to help to fund our work however we need financial support now to enable us to keep providing hot meals to those in need until March when further grant funding will be secured.

Our target of £2,000 will help us to:

Over the Christmas period we provided 260 hot meals to those most in need - it wouldn't have been possible without our wonderful team of over 100 volunteers and generous donations from the public.

Any amount that you can donate today will help us to continue providing this invaluable service to our lovely clients.

Feeding The Community Stockport delivers free hot meals up to 3 days a week to those in need across the Stockport Borough.

There are no strict qualifications for our service but we aim to help those in most need. Most people we help are referred to us by national charities such as Age UK, local social services, and return-to-home teams from hospitals. We help those who are temporarily unable to cook, are suffering from food poverty, or have a physical or mental disability.

Our meals are absolutely, always, free of charge.

We run mainly on donations from those we help, our volunteers and the general public; along with grants from the national lottery community fund and other companies and organisations. Based in the Stockport community, all our volunteers are from within the areas we serve - some of whom have been assisted by us in the past!

We have several volunteer teams:

Bakers of delicious cakes and sweet treats.

Delivery drivers.

‍ Cooks who create and package our nutritious, homemade meals.

We are always keen to welcome new volunteers - if you can spare some time to support your community, please send a message to our page.

Alternatively, monetary and food donations help our current volunteers to keep cooking tasty meals for those most in need.

Feeding the Community Stockport is unique in that through delivering meals to our client's doors, our drivers provide a friendly face, and ongoing communication to our community.
