On March 20, 2020 I gave a young hospital worker an Uber ride home. It was the very beginning of the Covid19 crisis. In the course of conversation, I found out the hospital cafeteria closed at the same time most night shift staff came to work. With the additional problem of enough PPE and area restaurants closing early, the staff was eating out of vending machines or not at all. The next afternoon, I posted in our neighborhood Facebook bulletin board. I disclosed what I had learned from.the worker and posed the question...Can we feed these folks. A fellow member of the board commented that it would be a great idea to provide the meals from locally owned restaurants...who were suffering, and help two groups at once. I posted my Venmo and PayPal information. In less than two hours, enough money was collected to buy dinner the first night. By the next morning, enough funds had been collected to fund the next 10 days. Today, May 18 will be night #59 of #feedthefrontline. I have delivered over 3300 meals to the Methodist Germantown ER and Covid19 Unit. Many people from across the country have asked how they can contribute to this mission after see the story on Fox News, People.com, Live with Kelly and Ryan and Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith. I have set up this GoFundMe for that purpose. All money donated goes directly to purchasing meals for these frontline warriors.
