Feets, Seats & Organizing
So far in 2019, we have served more than 80 children by providing
clothing for when they come into care, generally with only what is on
their back or in a Walmart sack. We are funded solely
by donations from churches, individuals and fundraisers, and while our expenses for 2019 are covered (rent, utilities and insurance are
approximately $600/month), having funds to purchase immediate
needs has been a huge help.
In the last ten days, we have:
1. Supported a new foster family by giving them a bunk bed, purchasing two mattresses and pillows which allowed them to keep a sibling set of
four together.
2. Shopped clearance sales and purchased 115 packs of socks/undies
for ONLY $310! (4-12 pairs of socks/pack and 6+ pairs of undies/pack!)
3. Purchased 15 LARGE tubs so we can be better organized to meet the needs of children quickly. (We are currently storing in boxes and trash bags - less than ideal!!)
So your donations allowed us to spend just over $750 to immediately
meet the needs of foster children in Southeast Kansas - and in addition to replacing those funds, we need your help to supply a few more items in the upcoming weeks:
1. Fridge. Something energy efficient to store the frozen meals Josie's
donates to foster families. (Approx $400)
2. Pillows. We have zero new ones @ The Closet. (Approx $150)
3. Hairbrushes/Combs. We have zero @ The Closet. (Approx $50)
4. Lightbulbs. Ours are crazy expensive. (Approx $150)
Our success has been a reflection of the generosity of our
community. We look forward to continuing to partner with you to
further our mission of "Giving out of home hope to out of home
placements."
