Felicity Hope-Anita Donovan

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we reach out to our community to stand beside the Donovan family in their time of unimaginable grief.

On Tuesday, December 19th, 2023, tragedy struck when their vibrant 16 year old daughter, Felicity Hope-Anita Donovan, died by suicide, leaving an irreplaceable void in everyones lives.

Felicity was an adventurous soul that showcased an amazing sense of humour. She was a girl who wasn’t afraid to be goofy just to get a laugh from her friends and family and had a special way of making a person smile when they were down on their luck. Funny, smart, hardworking , dedicated to family and friends, Felicity was a thrill seeker who had passion for art and making those around her feel loved and included. She had a natural gift with children which shined through when she babysat neighbourhood kids or as she helped with Ju-Jitsu classes and summer camps.
Felicity had really began to find her way into adulthood. She attended Elgin Park Secondary School as a grade 11 student and took on a role in the Peer Leadership Club where she excelled in making students feel comfortable in their environment. She was girl who always stood up for the underdog and went out of her way to ensure no matter what you knew you were always welcomed and valued. From studying for her learners license and working at a local Gelato Shop in Crescent Beach to apprenticing alongside her mom, Laura, at her local Tattoo Studio.
Felicity had a bright future ahead of her. She was an amazingly talented artist who loved to draw and sketch and had plans of one day attending Emily Carr.

The Donvan’s moved to Ocean Park, BC from Manitoba in 2014, embracing our community with open hearts. Having strong ties to their indigenous heritage the Donovans shared their knowledge and traditions with those around them. David and Laura have always been people who strongly believed in helping others out in times of need. They have been a strong presence in our communities here in BC and Manitoba. They have huge hearts and would give the shirt off their backs without a second thought. It’s clear where Felicity learned to exercise those same values.

We come together today, as parents and as friends to extend our love and support to the Donovans. Felicity’s departure has left her family - mother and father Laura and David, her big sister Cordelia, and her little sister Laura Jane - grappling not only with the emotional weight of their loss but also many unforeseen financial challenges that accompany such a devastating tragedy.

Felicity has been in the hospital for several days on life support. With news from the doctor that Felicity will not be able to recover, they did an MRI to confirm that at the family’s request, she meets all requirements for organ donation.
Although Felicity wasn’t able to get her drivers license, she did discuss with her parents that she would want to sign up for organ donor. The Donovan’s hope that with Felicitys love and kindness can be continued through her wishes to donate to others.
On Christmas Day 2023 at 9am Felicity’s wishes to donate will come true and up to 7 people will be coming to the hospital to receive their Christmas miracle.

For the family their journeys are just beginning and part of that process will be to turn Felicity’s bedroom into a Contemplation Room - A safe space filled with a peaceful energy in which to meditate and be surrounded by all the things she loved. This room will be a place for friends and family to come and enjoy Felicity's favourite candles, the smell her favourite perfumes and to hang out in her bean bag chair while being calmed by the essence of her spirit.

Our call out to you is to help raise money for the family that will assist in the following ways.
Aide in covering the costs associated with a Celebration of Life and memorialization expenses in a way that truly befits Felicity’s beautiful soul.
Help to cover the day to day living expenses during their time of grief. Recover lost income alleviating the financial strain caused by these unforeseen circumstances.
All donations received will be going directly to the family, alleviating the financial stress associated with laying Felicity to rest. Celebrations of life can be emotionally taxing and the costs associated can be a heavy burden. A date has not yet been set for the Celebration of life, we will notify when a date has been planned.
Your contributions, regardless of the amount, signify unity and empathy, providing the Donovan family the space to focus on healing rather than worrying about the current financial strains. Let us stand united in honouring Felicity’s memory and support the Dovonan family during this challenging journey. Your generosity is a beacon of light during in their darkest hour.

At this time we do ask that you give the Donovan’s the time and space that they need to heal. They appreciate every single person who has reached out personally on text, email, visiting and all social media. They send their love.

With heartfelt gratitude,
 Nicole and Alaina
