Hello friends, I would like to introduce you to my adorable nephew, Felix Langford. He was born on October 7, 2015 with a rare chromosome microdeletion syndrome called 1p36. Effects of this syndrome include severe mental, emotional, and physical delays and/or disabilities. Since he was born he has been in and out of hospitals for a variety of complications to include the most serious- infantile spasms. The effects of continued infantile spasms causes serious and permanent brain damage. After struggling for almost two years on strong anti-seizure medications the doctors have deemed it necessary to begin a dangerous but necessary steroid treatment. This treatment requires twice a day injections and twice a week doctor visits to monitor his tiny body and check for infection or heart problems. It can also have terrible side effects like cardiomyopathy and eye damage. My sister and her husband are a young, hard-working family with one car. In order to meet the requirements for treatment of their son they are in desperate need of a second car. Their best solution to this problem is to lease a car (Honda Civic) for three years but they need a down payment for the lease. My sister was admitted into the hospital today (August 8th) with my nephew as they begin the dangerous steriod treatment in the hope that it stops the infantile spasms. My sister and her husband must be able to fulfill and attend all the extensive treatment requirements necessary for Felix. My nephew is the sweetest little guy that is fighting so hard for every movement and every milestone. My sister and her family would be eternally grateful for your positive thoughts, prayers, and possibly donations. Please consider donating to this cause. Thank you so much!
