Feminist Truck, fuckparade 2023

Hiya! We are a loose group of people from different (queer-)feminist collectives and crews (Femtek, DYNAMIC, Euphoriot, girrrlxpower, Gleeetch), all mainly based in Berlin and Leipzig. Though everyone comes from different backgrounds and subcultures, we all have in common that we share a passion for fast, aggressive electronic music, and like our parties to be more inclusive and diverse than what is still the norm.

To finally break out of our little feel-good bubbles, we decided to organise a feminist truck at the Fuckparade, and bring our parties out on the streets, instead of inside the usual mouldy basements.

As with almost everything else in life, this requires some money and that’s why we’re asking you!

Why are we doing this? Because even in 2023 the Hardcore/Hardtek scenes are still very male dominated. FLINTA who are active behind the scenes, either behind the decks or organizing parties, are still the exception and have to deal with a lot of the usual bullshit that goes together with these kind of environments. Whether it’s not being able to dance for five minutes without someone asking for your number, or having to work twice as hard to be taken seriously as a FLINTA artist, fact is that a lot of parties still leave a lot to be desired in terms of inclusivity.

We want to offer a space where everyone can be themselves, independent of gender, nationality or sexual preference. Where it’s not needed to be ‘tougher’ and ‘harder’ than everyone else, but where you can actually enjoy the party. Where people look after each other, instead of just accepting problematic behaviour as ‘business as usual’. And where people play because of their music, and not just to serve as eye candy, or because they are the token diversity booking.

Those spaces are being taken away from us left and right, and we want to join the Fuckparade to show that this city is not getting rid of us so easily. In times where clubs, Wagenplaetze and other free spaces are being removed for the ridiculous fantasies of property developers and the CDU, it’s more important than ever to take every square meter we can get. To be loud, to be annoying, to be unadjusted or to be just plain weird! It’s getting increasingly harder to find any sort of creative space, especially for the subcultures that don’t necessarily bring in the big crowds. The result is a city that gets more barren and anonymous by the day, with a music scene that only seems to serve the commercial needs and egos from a few DJ’s and club owners.

The collected money will mostly go to the rental of a truck and a proper sound system. In the past we had to deal with multiple fines for breaching the public peace, and unfortunately we also have to set some money aside to deal with that. Any amount of money really helps us, no matter how small. And if the inflation got you down and you can’t donate anything, we of course still hope to see you on the 9th of September!
