Femoral head ostectomy surgery for Stitch

Hello everyone,

My name is Stephanie and this is my little boy Stitch. When I was younger, I was obsessed with watching the movie Lilo and Stitch. It’s such a great movie about the importance of family, friendship, love, and compassion. My tiny Stitch stole my heart the first day I met him. So tiny and fragile, yet fierce and playful. We are truly bonded, he follows me anywhere I go. He will be turning 6 years old this month and time feels like it’s flying by.

One night everything changed, we got home and noticed he started limping, panting, and shaking. All the clinics were closed so I waited for the next morning as early as possible to take him in to the vet. My heart sinks and I start crying as soon as I have to tell them what happened. Immediately they take him for x-rays and it showed he had dislocated his hip and there is nothing left to hold it into place. The vet decided to put him under anesthesia in order to try to pop it back into place, but unfortunately couldn’t. His only fix is to get a surgery that will remove the ball of his femur which will then heal and create a false joint essentially. Femoral head ostectomy (FHO) is a very expensive surgery and I am so grateful to have Gina and Dali at Saving Sage refer me to a more affordable option. Even then, it’s still a high bill and I would appreciate any help I can get in order to heal my little boy. I love him with all my heart and it hurts me so much to see him like this. I just want my baby boy to be good again ❤️
